Writing the scene

You might imagine yourself writing in a big house, or maybe in a forest or a beach, but to write you don't need anything out of the ordinary: the computer, a cheap notebook, and a pen.

It's still great that you look for a place of your own, where you can feel at ease and inspired. What we mean to say, is that there's no reason to wait for the perfect setting in order to start practicing: one learns to write by in fact writing.

In your room, in the garden, in a corner of the library, and even at a coffee shop you can find the space you need for yourself. Maybe one day you are thinking about going back home to write, but you stop at a coffee shop, and then in the middle of the noise inspiration arrives. TAKE ADVANTAGE of that, register the idea, record it, or write it down. If you can't develop the idea at that moment, just write down the essential, and continue when you get home.

Hold on a second! Don't get confused with all of this, don't think that now you just have to wait for the muse in order to get inspired. Writing requires work and commitment. You can learn what you need on the road, as you practice. If you really want to succeed in this pursuit, you have to apply yourself. Set up a schedule. You say you don't have time? Why don't you watch less TV or go out less? You shouldn't neglect your classes or interrupt your social life, but you can find time to take care your writer self. Organize your activities, only really you know how to do it.
